This blog is brought to you by a number of runners who campaigned to get a Marathon Event staged in Liverpool in 2008 as part of the Capital of Culture sporting programme.
Whilst that couldnt be achieved, Liverpool City Council promised to look at this for the future. They stuck to their promise and here we are, its on its way!

Liverpool has a very special place in my heart - my husband is from there, we met and married there, I lived and worked there for many years, and I made some long-lasting friendships there. 2008 will be our 20th anniversary and it would be wonderful to celebrate that by taking part in a marathon in the city where it all began.
Such an event would have a great deal of interest from runners all over the world, especially as Liverpool has such a marvellous story to tell. It would be a great way to encourage people to take part in the event and then stay on to explore the city.
It's almost inconceivable that a marathon has not already been arranged as part of the Capital of Culture events, when the eyes of the world will be on this great city.
